The Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals of EMHS wants to introduce you to the 2010 State of Maine Champion Child.
Please join us for a celebration at 10 am on Thursday, May 20 at Sam’s Club, on Haskell Road in Bangor.
Four-year-old Clayton Wilson is the son of Tim Wilson and Amy Robbins-Wilson, and he is a true miracle.
Clayton was born prematurely during what’s called a placental abruption (a condition that puts both the fetus and mother in danger). He was rushed to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Eastern Maine Medical Center, where he was put on a respirator and closely monitored. Amy remained behind in Waldo County to receive the medical treatment she needed to save her own life.
Four years later, Clayton is a happy, healthy four-year-old who is full of laughter and funny stories. His parents are dedicated supporters of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. “We never expected to find ourselves there,” Amy commented recently, “It never occurred to me that my baby and I could die in childbirth. We can never repay all that was done for us, but we can pay it forward!”
The Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals champions program designates a champion child in every state who has bravely battled a serious injury or illness. The champions represent the nearly 17 million children treated at Children’s Miracle Network hospitals every year.
As part of Champions presented by Walmart and Sam’s Club, the champions travel for a week in June to Washington, DC, where champions traditionally meet with their state Congressional delegation on Capitol Hill and with the President of the United States during a visit to the White House. The family then travels to Orlando, Florida during the second week in November. There, the champions meet Children’s Miracle Network sponsors, and hospital and media partners.
